This is an extraordinarily rare and interesting find, a self-portrait of Brendan Cass, painted in oil when he was 16 years old. Includes original labels and dates, all handwritten on the back. Brendan Cass, now one of our leading contemporary artists, has had many exhibitions and sold paintings for over $100,000 at auctions and galleries. This beautiful self-portrait, created during his time at Morristown High School in New Jersey, is a wonderful piece of his collection and even won a high school contest.
 
Brendan Cass is a post-war and contemporary American painter who was born in 1974 in New Jersey. He draws inspiration from impressions and memories of postcards and images from his travels to create expressionistic landscapes using layers of intense colors. His landscapes are reworked to turn them into imaginary and dreamlike places. He is best known for his large-scale landscape paintings in acid colors.
