Richard Clay, 'Love From The Sun,' Signed Acrylic Painting, 2004, with CoA - Appraisal Value: $6K
"Love From the Sun" is inspired by the music and lyrics Richard Clay composed for pop jazz artist Norman Connors, and Grammy-winning singer and Tony award nominated Dee Dee Bridgewater. This piece reflects Ancient Egyptian priests worshipping the sun, with the sun's energy sustaining them both spiritually and physically. This work incorporates acrylic painting and montage.
Richard Clay is a fine artist, musician, actor and filmmaker. He studied art with Anita Steckel, a famous pioneer in feminist art. Clay feels his paintings are inspired by the 13 years he spent working at the Museum of Modern Art. He lists Picasso, Matisse, Monet, Van Gogh, Bearden, and Warhol as his favorite artists. His early exhibits were in Perth, Western Australia and the Simmons Gallery in Sugarhill, Harlem. Richard's work is particularly inspired by mixed media.
